Jose Adan

Saludos. My name is Jose Adan and I am the secretary for SHPE UW for the 2024-2025 academic school year. I am a senior majoring in chemical engineering and minoring in French. With roots in Jalisco and Nayarit, I have a deep connection to my culture and through SHPE, I wish to actualize the STEM potential of our community.
Mariajose Estrada Garcia

My name is Mariajose Estrada Garcia, I was born and raised in Seattle but my family is from Jalisco, Mexico. I’m a 4th year student at the University of Washington studying civil engineering with my focus being (structural and construction). Some of my favorite day-to-day hobbies are going to the gym and spending time with my dog. But my FAVORITE thing to do in my free time is going to Mexico, to my rancho and spending quality time there, ride horses, go to la plaza, eat late tacos, etc… This 2024-2025 year Im excited to be UW SHP’s Vice president of external affairs !!

Hi everyone! My name is Miriam Castillo-Romero and I am a third year student in Computer Engineering. I was born and raised in the Seattle, WA area but my family is from Puebla, Mexico. I have been a part of SHPE since my first year and have been able to connect with a wonderful community of latinos in STEM who are motivated, intelligent, and supportive. On my free time I enjoy making art, playing music, and hiking. Looking forward to this year’s events, welcome to UW SHPE!

Hey everyone! My name is Mariela Cordero Clemente, and I am a sophomore intending to study environmental/civil engineering. My family is from Guerrero, Mexico, and San Marcos, Guatemala. I love exploring new places and immersing myself in other people's cultures. During my free time, I enjoy watching anime and spending quality time with family and friends. I look forward to working as secretary for SHPE and for the many exciting events that are in store!

Hello! My name is Oscar Jimenez, I am a sophomore studying HCDE. I was born and raised in the Yakima Valley area, and my family is from Nayarit Mexico. I am excited to be more involved with SHPE and support each other on our college journey. I love discovering new food spots around Seattle, and going to concerts.

Hola! My name is Martín and I am currently a senior. Seattle is where I was born and raised although my family is from Sinaloa, Mexico. I joined SHPE since last year and it has served as a home away from home at UW. When I have free time I enjoy playing soccer and hanging with friends. Being on the board this year excites me much, and I'm looking forward to seeing what lies ahead!

Heyy! My name is Melissa Sanchez and I’m currently a sophomore studying chemical engineering. I grew up in a small town in Eastern Washington called Othello. A lot of my family is from Morelos Mexico and I am a first-gen student. I’m excited to have this position in SHPE! They helped me a lot during my freshman year and are a great resource for career development. In my free time, I love to read, bake, and hang out with friends.
